FAITH CDC awarded grant from Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program

A Gary-based organization working to improve access to locally-grown food has received a significant boost.

Families Anchored in Total Harmony (FAITH CDC) has been awarded a grant to purchase a refrigerated/freezer truck, according to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. This will help the organization expand its transportation and distribution capabilities, enhancing efficiency and creating more opportunities for local producers to reach the market.

In total, 17 projects across Indiana were granted a share of $6.7 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program.

Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith remarked in a press release, "This grant funding will ensure that more Hoosiers are fed by Hoosiers, and that these organizations are better equipped to serve their communities."
