The Health Grade System (HGS) is an independent, non-governmental initiative dedicated to improving transparency in consumer products.

HGS was created to address a simple problem: while ingredient information exists, health risk is often unclear at the moment people make decisions. Our work focuses on making that risk visible in a standardized, easy-to-understand format.

Independent by Design

HGS operates independently of manufacturers, retailers, political organizations, and government agencies.
Our methodology, scoring framework, and updates are developed through internal research, external scientific review, and transparent governance processes.

No single stakeholder controls HGS.

Funding & Influence

HGS is structured to avoid conflicts of interest.
We do not accept funding that grants editorial, methodological, or scoring control over outcomes.
Product grades are not influenced by payment, sponsorship, or affiliation.

Purpose

Our role is not to persuade or regulate behavior.
Our role is to reveal information clearly.

When health risk is made visible, individuals, markets, and institutions can make better decisions on their own.
